Processing ’23 is the thirty-sixth International congress on process industry organized by the Society for Process Engineering, within SMEITS (Serbian Union of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Technicians). Coorganizers are the Department of Process Engineering of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Belgrade, and Trebinje Energy Summit (SET).

Processing '23 is to be held in Center for professional development, Šabac, Serbia, on June 1 and 2, 2023.

Round tables with current topics related to the processing industry will be organized within the Processing. Topics and participants – panelists at the round tables will be announced in due time.

Petroleum, chemical and petrochemical industries; ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy; non-metallic minerals industry; plastic materials industry; building materials industry; refractory and thermal insulation materials industry; paper and pulp industry; pharmaceutical industry; food industry; production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; fodder production; production of fertilizers and agrochemicals; tobacco industry; textile industry; rubber industry.

2. Design, construction, operation and maintenance of process plants

Design of process plants; Construction of process plants; Commissioning; operation and maintenance of process plants; functionality and security testing; automatic process control and monitoring systems; information technology in the design and management of process plants.

3. Basic and auxiliary operations, apparatus and machines in the process industry

Environmental protection, working environment protection; waste materials management in the process industry; solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the process industry.

6. Processes and plants in water preparation and purification in the process industry

Water treatment for various applications in the process industry; wastewater treatment in the process industry.

7. Drying and dryers

Drying processes and equipment; conventional and new drying technologies; control and management of drying processes, energy efficiency, environmental impact; dryers: in the food industry, non-metal industry, wood drying, etc.

8. Gas technology

Combustible gases; technical and medical gases; production and application.

9. Hydraulic and pneumatic transport

Transportation of fine-grained and powdery solid materials through pipes; Transport of liquid and gaseous fluids through pipes.

Basic measured quantities in the process industry; legislation and standardization in the field of measurement and testing; measurements for the purpose of control, management and automatic process management; measuring systems (sensors, sensors, actuators); organization of complex measurement systems with data acquisition.

Presentation and publication of the paper

Processing '23 is organized according to the rules defined for international congresses, which determines the classification and quantification of the papers.

The book of abstracts of all accepted papers in Serbian and English will be printed.

The proceedings will be published on the website of SMEITS publications, it will have its own CIP and ISBN. Original exhibited papers may obtain the DOI.

With authors’ consent, papers accepted for Processing ’23 may be submitted to be published in the following journals: Thermal Science (M23), Chemical Industry (M23), or Procesna tehnika (M53).

Authors should note whether they want their paper to be submitted to one of the mentioned journals. In that case, they will receive special information regarding the paper preparation and special reviews will be made for these papers.

Authors may submit and deliver their papers as follows:

  • Presentation within the program and publication of the complete paper in the proceedings on the website of SMEITS publications.
  • Presentation on a poster and publication of the complete paper on the website of SMEITS publications.
  • Presentation within the program.

Official languages

The official languages of Processing '23 are English and Serbian. Presentation may be in Serbian.

Registration fee

The full registration fee for Processing '23 is 8,000 RSD, and for SMEITS members 6,400 RSD (including VAT). Registration fee includes congress material; welcome cocktail, 1.6.2023, coffee breaks, farewell lunch, etc.

Participants may follow the program without a registration fee, but they do not have the right to congress material or attendance at social events.

The author presenting the paper is exempt from paying the registration fee.

Student program

At Processing '23, students may deliver their paper in a special session and the author of the best paper will be recognized.

Call for sponsorship

The Organizer invites all interested companies and organizations to be sponsors of Processing ‘23 and to enter into sponsorship agreements as soon as possible in order to be entitled to the congress fee payment in monthly instalments.

The sponsors have the following rights:

  • The sponsor’s name and logo will be printed in the appropriate, noticeable section in the final programme and congress invitation.
  • The sponsor’s name or logo (50×50 cm) will be displayed at the central place of the hall during the congress.
  • The sponsor’s name or logo as well as its one-page colour advertisement will be printed in the Book of Abstracts and in both issues of the journal “Procesna tehnika” in 2023.
  • At the exhibition within the congress, the sponsor may use an arranged exhibition area free of charge.
  • Three professionals from the sponsor’s company or organization will be entitled to participation in the congress free of charge.
  • The sponsor may to give a 10 minute presentation of its business programme or new products to the congress attendees. The topic of that presentation will be included in the printed programme of the congress. the sponsor’s presentations will be posted at the event site.
  • The sponsor may distribute brochures, catalogues, and other information material to the congress attendees.
